Sarina Russo's 20 Rules of Leadership - Rule 8

To live the role of leader, to be seen to be the leader, I follow a set of 20 rules that govern my attitude and my behaviour. I'm delighted to share today my eighth rule of leadership:

Keep looking and listening to the `buzz’ of your business so that you are constantly monitoring its health.

A good leader should know his or her business as well as a doctor would know what a patient’s vital signs should be.

Imprint the anatomy of your business into your brain. Every part of the business body should be healthy.

It’s crucially important to recognise it if some part of your business is dying. You may have to cut off an arm so that it doesn’t disease the rest of the body.

Don’t shirk that decision.
