Sarina Russo's 20 Rules of Leadership - Rule 11
To live the role of leader, to be seen to be the leader, I follow a set of 20 rules that govern my attitude and my behaviour. I'm delighted to share today my eleventh rule of leadership:
Celebrate your progress.
I believe in putting on the biggest Christmas party, taking my people to a Ball Room, with the silver service and the five star treatment and I don’t spare the cost.
A lot people around Christmas never get this sort of exposure.
It’s a great boost for them to feel that the boss really values them and also wants them to share the success of the year that has passed.
I also believe in regular social functions.
We have a monthly barbecue/drinks night where staff can let their hair down with food and drinks.
There is a relaxed and fun-charged atmosphere at this function that sets thoughts flowing and ideas bubbling.
It promotes friendliness and bonding.
Your people benefit and your business benefits.
A happy business is a successful business.
